There will be a Shout for Joy when the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir (BCC) performs in the Odeion on 3 December before departing on their European tour.

The Shout for Joyprogramme commemorates 35 years of excellence and breathtaking moments.

The European tour will start in Antwerp on 9 December with Christmas Concerts held in Bruges, Tongeren, Hasselt, Sint-Truiden, Wellen and Mechelen before the Let’s Sing Christmas concert in Disneyland Paris on 20 December.

Audiences can expect a versatile and eclectic programme ranging from sacred and secular Christmas music and a new composition by Franco Prinsloo, Shout for Joy, which was commissioned by the BCC for its 35th celebrations year.

This masterpiece is written in Afrikaans, English, and Sotho with piano, organ, and percussion. The audience can also expect Irish, Puerto Rican, and African folk music, the music of Leonard Cohen, Robbie Williams, Anton Goosen, the Greatest Showman, and “O Fortuna” from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The choir will also perform “1 op Een Miljoen”, a Flemish pop song made famous by the artist Metejoor – arranged for the BCC by Anton Esterhuyse.

Tickets for the show in the Odeion at 18:00 on 3 December are available from Liesbet de Lange at 082-565-8932.
