Alice and all her friends will be visiting Bloemfontein this week.
Young and old are invited to enter the whimsical world of wonder as a new adaption of Alice in Wonderland takes to the stage with the second year drama students of the University of the Free State (UFS).

This adaptation retains the heart and charm of Lewis Carroll ‘s original works.
Follow Alice as she embarks on a fantastical journey filled with curious creatures, astonishing adventures, and riddles that challenge the imagination. Join the eccentric Mad Hatter’s tea party, the mysterious Chesire Cat, and the quirky Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee to the Queen of Hearts’ annual croquet game.
Audiences will be captivated by the dazzling performances, colourful costumes, and engaging storytelling.
Thys Heydenrych, director of the production, says the production is a journey of self-discovery.
“I’ve embraced the spirit of Carroll’s timeless tales while adding our unique flair, ensuring audiences of all ages experience the magic in a new way. Children’s theatre needs magic, and I love the challenge of making it happen.”
The play features a talented cast, mesmerising stage effects, and a whimsical set design.
Alice in Wonderland is a must-see production for families, schools, and anyone who loves the magic of theatre. Whether rediscovering Alice’s adventures or encountering them for the first time, this adaptation guarantees an unforgettable theatrical experience.
The production will be on stage at the university’s Wynand Mouton Theatre from 26 to 29 March at 11:00, with another show on Friday, 28 March at 18:00.
