The Medical Registrar at the Universitas Academic Hospital Dr Patrick Kint (36), passed away on Sunday.
Universitas Academic Hospital CEO, Dr Balekile Mzangwa, has expressed shock and sadness at the untimely death of Kint.
At the time of his death, he was working at Anaesthesia Clinical Unit in the facility. He was the Medical Registrar since 2019.
“We are absolutely devastated at the loss of such a wonderful young doctor,” Mzangwa said in a news release.
“Dr Kint’s sudden death is a great loss to our hospital and the Free State Department of Health, but even more so to his loved ones.
“His loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish them much strength at this difficult time.
“Dr Kint’s contribution to the healthcare system and service to our people is much appreciated. He will be greatly missed,” he added.
The life of Dr Kint will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at the University of Free State, Metro 4 on Wednesday, 20 March.
He will be laid to rest in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 23 March.
