The youths of Bloemfontein, aspiring to pursue careers as actors, singers, dancers, and modelling, are invited to audition for the International ARTS Talent Showcase (IATS). Auditions will be held on Saturday, 16 March, at the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein.
Candidates will also participate in an industry-related workshop to be presented on the day, to select candidates who show the greatest potential. Those who receive a call back at the auditions will have the opportunity to be part of the IATS’ mentorship programme, which aims at perfecting participants’ skills to audition in front of international talent scouts in Johannesburg later in the year.
The national leg of the talent search auditions will bring together industry professionals, casting directors, and agents from around the world. “It is here that our local artists will get to showcase their unique talents in front of top, world-class international talent scouts. The youth are our future. My aim is to equip, inspire, and build a powerful nation of creatives,” said Elsubie Louwrens, chairperson and producer of the IATS.
Now in its 14th year, the talent search agency has discovered highly talented candidates in South Africa who are now on the world stage. On the home front, it made it possible for a Bloemfontein-born model, Lize Potgieter, to pursue her studies whilst continuing with her modelling career. She was part of seven South African models who walked the runway of the London Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week.
