The first ever Wathaball doubles wil be played on 24 September at the Bloemfonatein Bowling Club.

Johann van der Wath explains this is game will be revolutionising the sport of lawn bowls.

“This format takes the features of this wonderful ‘old-man-marbles’ game and transfers it into a new and very exciting ‘what-a-ball’ bowling format that is fast-paced, has quicker ends turnaround and shorter match durations”

He explains the players are more engaged in delivering bowls and involved in the decision making.

“This is a game to be explored by young and old.”

The Wathaball tournament will be taking place on Heritage Day. Bowls players are invited to enter this tournament with prize money worth R10 000.

Entry to this spectacle for spectators is free of charge, with a cash bar available at the club.
