The N3 highway between Van Reenen’s Pass and Montrose was closed early this morning when eight people died on the scene after a fatal minibus taxi accident.
Six other occupants was transported to the Thebe Hospital in Harrismith after moderate injuries.
Sipho Towa, Free State Chairperson of Road Incident Management Systems, urged motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching the accident scene and be aware of emergency services and traffic management personnel.

From Harrismith take the R712 to Qwaqwa / Phuthaditjhaba / Bergville
After about 10km ont the R712 , take the R74 turnoff to Bergville / Oliviershoek Pass.
At Bergville takethe R616 which will take you to the N3.
From Escort: take the R616 to Bergville,
At Bergville take the R74 to Phuthaditjhaba/Qwaqwa
From the R74 take the R712 to Harrismith.
