Great fun awaits petrolheads at this year’s Cars in The Park event on Wednesday, 1 May.
A wide variety of veteran vehicles, sport cars, motorcycles and a toy fair with model motors will be on exhibit at the Martie du Plessis School grounds from 08:00 to 15:00.
Cars in the Park is presented by the Free State Veteran Car Club and the Bloemfontein Model Motor Club, and is a fund-raising event for the school.
One of the exciting activities at this year’s show, is the national Ride To Diecast Tour competition. Any car can be entered for a fee of R50, where the overall winner will be presented a custom-made model car. Photos of the local entrants’ cars will be taken at Cars in the Park.
In November it was also the 100th celebration of Ford in South Africa. As such, Cars in the Park would love to celebrate this with a special Ford exhibition on 1 May.
Ford owners who want to take part in the Ford Celebration at a dedicated space, must send their name and a description of their car via WhatsApp before 12 April to 083-675-6453. A chat group will be formed and all arrangements will be done there.
Jacques Pretorius of the model club, says the toy fair exhibit and stalls will be even bigger this year.
“The comic books and figurines of movie characters were popular and they will be back this year.”
The entrance fee is R40, and R10 for children. Children younger than 10 years have free entry.
