Chicken Sosaties with Peach Marinade

Ingredients Marinade: Method Serving Suggestions


Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken breast or thigh fillets, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 green peppers, cut into squares
  • 2 peaches or apricots, sliced (fresh or canned)
  • Skewer sticks (soaked in water if wooden)

Marinade:

  • 125 ml peach chutney or jam
  • 45 ml tomato sauce
  • 15 ml soy sauce
  • 5 ml curry powder
  • 7 ml salt
  • 15 ml oil

Method

  1. Make the marinade: Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Marinate: Add chicken cubes, stirring to coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
  3. Assemble skewers: Alternate chicken cubes, onion squares, pepper squares, and peach slices on each skewer.
  4. Braai or grill: Cook over medium heat, turning often and basting with leftover marinade until chicken is cooked through and nicely browned.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with braaibroodjies or a simple green salad.
  • A side of pap (maize meal) or garlic bread complements the sweet-and-spicy flavours.
