Snow White is the beloved fairy tale about the beautiful stepdaugther of a wicked queen, who escapes into a forest and hides among seven dwarfs.

But not in Bloemfontein. Here, Magic Mirror Mike does not like the work he does for the Queen, and Snow White meets seven tsotsis. The seven tsotsis took over from the dwarfs because of Tsotsi Business Empowerment (TBE). Do not think all tsotsis are bad, however; they might turn out to be the heroes.

Join the fun when Xander Steyn of the Rabbit Theatre School in Parkwest puts his magic to work and turns adults and children of all ages into entertaining actors.

“This is probably one of the best casted shows since I came to Bloemfontein ten years ago,” Steyn enthuses about Snow White and the Seven Tsostis.

“Everyone fits perfectly in their roles. Bloemfontein has amazing talent. All the actors are normal, hard-working people with day jobs, but they all share the same love for the stage. This show is going to be epic,” Steyn promises.

The audience can expect big costumes, make-up, and talent.

“What I love about what I do, is the fact that a safe space is created wherein everyone can just ‘be’; a place where you get an opportunity and experience being in a professional, colourful production. This will entertain young and old.”

Steyn’s Snow White and the Seven Tsotsis will run for a week at the Rabbit Studio, but those interested need to make sure they book for the show they would specifically like to see.

The primary school groups 1 and 2 will perform on Saturday, 23 November, at 16:00 and 19:00. Tickets costs R60.

The high school group 1 will perform on Friday, 22 November, at 19:00, while group 2 will perform on Sunday, 24 November, at 16:00. Tickets cost R80.

The four main shows with adult actors are on Thursday, 28 November, and Friday, 29 November, at 19:00, and on Saturday, 30 November, at 16:00 and 19:00. Tickets cost R100.
