The Bloemfontein Children’s Choir (BCC) wil entertain the audience during its 2023 Gala Concert on 12 December with a programme jam-packed with beautiful music.

The choir will captivate the audience with music from Disney, Queen and Abba. The classical enthusiast can also look forward to beloved melodies from prominent operas.

In addition, the choir will perform sacred music composed and arranged by South African composers.

Cantate Domino was composed especially for children’s choir by the well-known American-based Charlotte Botha.

Anton Esterhuyse also arranged a magnificent Afrikaans medley of old, new and favourite hymn tunes.

The celebrated Swahili Baba Yethu will also be heard.

The work of other South African composers will be showcased, like Chris Lampbrecht with his art song Tsitsikama. Christopher Torr’s Stuur groete aan Mannetjies Rouxwill commemorate the wonderful Rugby World Cup year.

African folklore and, likewise, Japanese and American folk songs, will entertain listeners and the choir will charm the audience with Christmas music by Robbie Williams and Come Colours Rise by South African composer Grant McLachlan.

The choir had local performances, as well as church performances, and is looking forward to an absolute highlight to conclude the year with a tour to the Winterton area, where it will perform with the Drakensberg Boys Choir from 5 to 7 December at 15:30.

The Gala Concert in Bloemfontein commemorates 36 years and breathtaking moments in the BCC’s existence.

This concert is a tribute to the city of Bloemfontein and boasts magnificent young talent. The heartbeat of the choir is the loving parents and supporters.

The concert will take place on 12 December at 18:00 in the Odeion on the main campus of the University of the Free State (UFS). Tickets cost R150.
