The year is rushing towards its end and soon it will be that time when friends and family get together and celebrate Christmas.
Start the celebrations this Friday, 10 November, at 18:00 at the annual Carols with the Stars event, taking place at the Willem Postma Primary School.
This is the eight time that Pick n Pay Preller Walk will celebrate Christmas with a music concert.
Duncan Pentz, co-owner of Pick n Pay Preller Walk, invites everyone to join the festivities.
“This year we have local artists performing Christmas music.”
Beautiful Afrikaans and English songs and carols will be performed by Cézanne Yzelle, Mario Lategan, Thabo Hlongwane and Jacobus Silwer, with the Rhapsody Orchestra joining in.
People attending the free event are invited to bring non-perishable food, as well as food and gifts for pets. These can be placed in the Pick n Pay shopping trolleys that will be at all the entrances.
The charities that are set to benefit from the donations received here include the Sunflower House of Bloemfontein Hospice, the SPCA, as well as the Mooihawe Old Age Home.
Shoppers have until tonight at 20:00 to do their shopping for R200 or more at Pick n Pay Preller Walk and place their shopping slips into marked boxes outside the shop to win prizes. They must write their name and surname, ID number and contact details on the slip. This is only required to enable the draw, and personal information will not be shared.
Prizes that can be won, are three shopping vouchers: the first prize is a shopping voucher for R50 000 at Pick n Pay Preller Walk, the second a shopping voucher for R30 000 and the third a shopping voucher for R20 000.
Winners must attend the event to claim their prize.
Attendees can bring chairs or blankets to sit on the sports field. Bring warm clothing, as the nights can still be a bit chilly. Also bring a picnic basket or support the stalls selling eats and treats.
Gates are open from 17:00; come early to get a good seat.
