The ANC is back in the troika positions in the Mangaung Metro after an election held on Friday, 13 October.

The newly-elected executive mayor, Gregory Nthatisi, and his team held a press conference on Thursday, 19 October, to lay out the key goals for the immediate future.

He said the executive council have four main tasks at hand.

The first is to implement the financial recovery plan and to secure financial stability.

They will now promote good governance and stability, thanks to ap-pointments made.

He also announced the reconfigured members of the mayoral council.

Nthatisi said plenty of energy will be put into ensuring service delivery becomes more stable.

He said the fourth goal is to improve institutional development by appointing the right staff members.

Nthatisi said he gathered experience in the previous five months while he served as the acting executive mayor for the metro.

At the meeting he announced that Sello More was appointed as city manager after Maureen Ntshudisane served in an acting capacity until now.

Lulama Titi-Odili was elected as deputy mayor.

Lawrence Mathae was elected as speaker on 20 September after a motion of no confidence was brought against the DA speaker Maryke Davies.
