Two departements of the University of the Free State (UFS) signed an agreement with Pacofs to enhance co-operation between these two institutions and support the arts in general.
The Department of Drama and Arts and the Odeion School of Music signed a memorandum of agreement with the HOD of Pacofs, Themba Dlamini on Wednesday, 26 July.
Prof Anthea van Jaarsveld, head of the Department Drama and Arts, said they embark on this collaborative journey to bridge the gap between academia and the arts, where knowledge is nurtured and creativity can flourish.
“The arts, in all its forms, possess the remarkable power to transcend barriers and provoke meaningful dialogue.
“For Pacofs this collaboration signifies a new chapter where the talent of budding artists can be nurtured, amplified and given a platform to thrive.”
Dlamini said this agreement will have numerous positive outcomes.
One of them being to provide real-time work experience as is already the case with 17 students from the Central University of Technology (CUT).
“This will also provide employees of Pacofs that have work experience but no academic certificate, the opportunity for enhancement through set programmes.”
