The Vrystaat Arts Festival will launch the first edition of the New Dance Umbrella from 4 to 9 July, with the main programme running from 2 to 8 October.
This will feature new works from contemporary choreographers who have been invited to create and collaborate.
In July Bloemfontein-based artist Thami Majela will premiere the work POP, which was co-created with French choreographer Matthieu Nieto, in the Free State.
In October the two commissioned works include Zann by Fana Tshabalala, a co-production with French composer Benjamin Magnin, which looks at isolation and loneliness. Lorin Sookool will premiere a new, untitled work.
