Nine dancers from Bloemfontein were included in the Protea team that took part in the International Dance Organisation (IDO) Disco Dance World Championships from 23 to 27 October in Mülheim, Germany.
Senicia Breytenbach, Protea dance team manager, says the team members from the three dance schools in the Free State have honed their craft, pushed their limits and embodied the spirit of dance sport.
Some of the top results
- Sizolwethu Ngidi (12) came fourth in the children male disco dance solo category and made it to the semifinals in the disco slowdance;
- Letitia de Smidt (13) came fifth in junior 1 female disco freestyle;
- Jaydene Barnard (17) came seventh in adult disco freestyle.
- Chanel Vorster (25) came 11th in the U21 world disco slowdance mixed dance.
- Leané de Smidt (15) was placed tenth.
While Leané is coached at Lené le Roux Dance Domination, the rest of the dancers mentioned are all coached at the Senicia du Toit-Breytenbach Dance Domination Studio.
Breytenbach says the results of the Protea team was of the best in a very long time.
