The South African Sports Association for Physically Disabled (Sasapd) is mourning the death of its prominent president and member Moekie Grobbelaar. She passed yesterday, Tuesday, 1 July, the federation confirmed. Messages of condolences continue pouring from various sporting federations, expressing shock and celebrating the devoted servant of the sport.
“Moekie fought the good fight, she kept the faith, and she finished her course with grace, courage, and unwavering dedication to Para sport and the community she so dearly loved. Her legacy is woven into the very fabric of Sasapd and will continue to guide us for years to come,” the federation stated in a statement.
Grobbelaar is well-remembered for her positive impact in the promotion of Sasapd and enabling the participation of athletes. Her legacy will be remembered through the countless lives she touched, the opportunities she created, and the inspiration she offered to generations of athletes and administrators alike.
