A cheque for R20 000 was recently handed over to the Free State branch of Search and Rescue South Africa (Sarza).

The money will be used to acquire rescue and safety equipment.

This donation was handed over by Dr Deon Menge, branch councillor, during the annual gala dinner of the South African Medical Association’s (Sama) Free State branch. The event was hosted at Monte Bello Estate on Friday, 6 May.

In addition to members of the association and guests, fifth-year medical students were invited to the event.

The branch expressed its appreciation to Sama’s chief executive officer, Dr Vusumuzi Nhlapho, for attending and delivering an inspiring speech, and for sharing his expertise.

Prof. Ntobeko Ntusi was the keynote speaker.

Guests agreed that the event made for a good social encounter.
