Dai-Lynn Finnis (18), a semifinalist in Pageant South Africa’s Miss Junior South Africa competition, donated 180 books to the Lighthouse Church and Restoration Centre in Heidedal.

Dai-Lynn is the brand ambassador for the lifestyle brand On Point who created the Helping Hands Donate-a-book-project for her.

As part of the project, On Point collected lifestyle books from the community, which Dai-Lynn donated on 9 May.

Pastor Emile Bailey received the donation and thanked Dai-Lynn for the initiative.

The church and restoration centre is the newest part of the Lighthouse Centre, which includes a centre for children to do their homework after school, as well as a crèche. Bailey said the restoration centre for men with addicton problems was started six months ago.

“The books are ideal for the Christian based centre. We wish to focus on skills development so that these men can go back to add value to their families and the community.”
