The case against the two suspects in the double murder of Christo and Christa Morrison, who were killed on their farm Rietfontein near Glen on 3 May, has been moved to the High Court in Bloemfontein.
Mohau Lebeko (39), and Motlalento Wolf (25), will make their first appearance there on 13 November.
The accused, both farm workers, are facing charges of murder and robbery under aggravated circumstances. It is alleged that they forced the Morrison couple to transfer R110 000 to their bank accounts. Additionally, they are charged with the theft of cell phones and bank cards.
The details surrounding the attack are gruesome. Christa’s half-naked body was discovered in a three-meter deep septic pit, while Christo’s body was found in a borehole approximately 300 meters from the farmstead. Reports suggest Christo may have been killed with sheep shears, and Christa’s throat was allegedly slit with a knife, which has not been recovered.
According to court documents, the motive for the murders appears to be related to a wage dispute, as Mr. Morrison had paid wages earlier that morning.
