A tactical response team (TRT) of the SAPS acted on intelligence regarding drug trafficking in the Mangaung Metro as part of Operation Shanela in the past week.
The team first arrived at an identified house in the Caleb Motshabi informal settlement in the Kagisanong Police Station precinct.
They conducted a search and found zip lock plastic bags containing crystal meth and similar-sized plastic bags containing methcathinone (cat). The total street value of the drugs seized is an estimated R3 000. A 30-year-old male was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs.
The operation continued as the team arrived at the next address, in Bastion Street in Bloemfontein’s CBD.
Here a 35-year-old male was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs. The police seized 19 medium-sized zip lock plastic bags containing cat and loose dagga. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at R4 300.
Another unit searched and arrested a 37-year-old male who was found to have six medium-sized zip lock bags containing crystal meth in his possession, also in Bastion Street.
Lt. Col. Thabo Covane, police spokesperson, said case dockets were opened at the Kagisanong and Parkweg Police Station, respectively. The suspects will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court soon.
