The Mangaung Metro received 15 new vehicles that will be used in a bid to accelerate service delivery which is at an all time low.

The Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Enginering Services, Vusi Soqaga, handed over the 15 vehicles to the Acting Head of Department (HOD) for Solid Waste and Fleet Management, Francois Nel, as well as the General Manager for Roads and Stormwater, Revelation Masobeng.

Soqaga said at the handing over at the government garage on Wednesday that the vehicles will be distributed across the different departments of the municipality and will be used for maintenance.

“Maintenance remains a big problem in the municipality and we are hopefull that the teams will use these vehicles to improve on the mantenance in the city,” Soqaga said.

He also said that these are only the first of a batch of fleet and that the municipality is in the process of acquiring more vehicles to work towards service delivery issues in the metro.
