The bodies of a husband (47) and his wife (38) have been discovered by their 17-year-old daughter in a house in Hegar Crescent, Hospitaalpark, Bloemfontein.
The girl discovered the bodies of her parents at around 06:00.
According to a police report, the daughter, who shares a cottage at the back of the main house with her brother, came to the main house as she does every morning before she leaves for school.
She discovered the bodies of her parents and hurried back to the cottage to wake her 21-year-old brother. They called the police.
Lt. Col Thabo Covane says a team of investigators from the Parkweg Police Station, along with Local Criminal Record Centre experts, were summoned to the scene.
They processed the scene and discovered that the female victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her body and head. The male had one gunshot wound in the head.
Both the deceased were employed by the Mangaung Metro Municipality Traffic Department.
An inquest into the murder continues.
