The stage is set for the eagerly awaited Heidedal Music Expo on 15 March in Bloemfontein, with a line-up of performing acts finalised. A total of 26 artists, between ages six and 36, made the cut from the multitudes who auditioned over two days, on 10 and 11 February.
Those selected are currently fine-tuning their music skills for full display during the showpiece. Spanning a diversity of young music acts, the expo makes provision for various genres: reggae, Afro jazz, soul, R&B, gospel, hip-hop, rap and musical poetry. The line-up will also feature a crew of DJs who display their magic of spinning discs to bring the house down and get dancers to showcase their dance moves on the floor and stage.
According to Dr Nathan Bagarette, coordinator and co-director of Baobab Entertainment NPC, the event is critical for the youth to tap into and showcase their talent.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young aspirant performing artists to jump-start their careers. Those selected are the cream of the crop, who the world is waiting to see display their talent. We are encouraging people in the greater Mangaung to support the show,” said Bagarette.
The expo is the brainchild of Baobab Entertainment NPC and is supported by various partners and sponsors, which include the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Reaction, Radio Bloem and Heidedal Live, as well as the Central24 media group. The group’s publications BloemExpress and BloemNews are print media sponsors. Tickets are already selling at R100. For details dial 076-272-2136.
