After two years’ absence because of the pandemic, the Free State Fashion Week (FSFW) is back to showcase top quality local fashion.
The FSFW partnered with All Black Soiree for the 2022 edition that will take place from 28 September to 1 October at the Naval Hill Planetarium.
Two of South Africa’s top fashion designers, Gert-Johan Coetzee and Palesa Mokubang, will showcase their designs.
Gert-Johan is known for red carpet outfits which could be seen at major events such as the SA Music Awards, SA Film and Television Awards, J&B Met, Huisgenoot Skouspel, and Miss World. His creations have won the best dressed title at many events and he has dressed many of the country’s most famous personalities. These include Cindy Nell and Lira, and extends to international stars Oprah Winfrey and Kourtney Kardashian.
Palesa is the founder of Mantsho and the first African designer to collaborate with international retailer H&M with her collection available at these stores throughout South Africa as well as the USA, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Chile, Israel, as well as H&M online markets.
The Fashion Week will kick off with a model casting taking place on Saturday (20/08) in Mimosa Mall.
Apart from the main events at the planetarium on 28 September as well as the runway shows from 29 September to 1 October, there will also be exhibitions in Mimosa Mall from 27 September to 2 October.
At the runway shows, a variety of student designers, emerging designers and well-known designers will showcase their designs over three days.
