Masses invited to worship together

Christians from all over Bloemfontein are invited to a night of praise and worship at the Breath of Life Stadium Worship on Friday, 17 November, at the Toyota Stadium.

Christians from all over Bloemfontein are invited to a night of praise and worship at the Breath of Life Stadium Worship on Friday, 17 November, at the Toyota Stadium.

Quinton de Vries, one of the organisers of Wild Canaan Ministries, says more than 47 churches from all over Bloemfontein are involved in this year’s worship event.

“Last year we had 14 500 people at the event, and we hope for even more.”

He says they are praying for 20 000 people at this year’s event.

Local bands from different churches will lead the worship. These include The Shelter, Verander, Bloemfontein Herleef and the Bloemfontein Worship Band. Songs will be sung in Afrikaans, English and Sesotho.

“At the event we will pray for Bloemfontein.”

Apart from making use of the stadium seats, attendees have the option of bringing blankets and sitting on the grass.

De Vries and his team are excited that the executive mayor of Bloemfontein, Gregory Nthatisi, indicated that he would be attending the event.

“We are experiencing that something is happening in the metro,” he said.

De Vries says they pray that something will awaken in people’s hearts.

“This year’s theme is from Psalm 150: Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”

He says counselling will be available at the Castle Deck for people who want to talk to someone, or need someone to pray for them.

“This was something that we learnt from previous events – that people often need someone to talk to. They will get the opportunity to do this.”

Tickets for the event cost R20 and are available from most churches and on ticketpros.co.za.
