The Hollard Daredevils take to the streets on 31 October.

Men from all over Bloemfontein are invited to take part in this year’s ballsiest move yet.
The Hollard Daredevil Run is not only a fun run – it is a reminder to be brave, bold and play a role in raising funds and making a difference.
There are only a few weeks to go until thousands of men countrywide will take part in the run in support of prostate and testicular cancer awareness.
On Friday, 31 October, South African men will be lacing up for a cause and running in nothing but a purple Speedo and tekkies.
Every step taken helps to fund screening, awareness and research especially for those who don’t have access to these.
“The Hollard Daredevil Run has been transformative for CANSA, providing vital funding that allows us to educate communities, offer free screenings, support men through early detection and treatment. It enables us to reach underserved areas, train healthcare professionals and ensure men receive the care they need, from initial testing to hospital referrals and ongoing support,” explains Lorraine Govender, CANSA National Manager: Health Programmes.
“This support truly saves lives and helps change the face of prostate cancer in South Africa.”
The annual Hollard Daredevil Run, now in its sixteenth year, will see runners from Bloemfontein once again joining thousands of other daredevils at four different runs in the city:

  • 07:30: The Preller Square Run;
  • 17:00: The BloemChilies/Team Geniuses in Deville Drive at the bottom of Naval Hill;
  • 7:30: The Titanium Running Club on Naval Hill at the Nelson Mandela Statue;
  • 17:30: The YELLO Coffee Run starting at 50 Louw Wepener Street opposite Preller Square.

Runners have multiple options to choose from.

This event fosters an environment where men feel encouraged to discuss their health openly and take proactive steps, which is crucial since early detection of prostate and testicular cancer can save lives.

Tickets cost R 180 and if you sign up before 27 October at Ticketpro, your registration pack and complimentary purple Speedo will be couriered directly to you.

Every man with a pair of running shoes can help to reach this year’s Hollard Daredevil Run fundraising goal of R 2 million. For those who cannot take part, there is also an opportunity donate at BackaBuddy. “The Hollard Daredevil Run makes a real difference every year. Firstly, the funding it raises allows us to provide more screenings, giving men the vital chance for early detection – something many might otherwise miss,” says Andrew Oberholzer, CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. “Beyond that, the run creates incredible education and awareness opportunities. It gives us a platform to start important conversations.”
