Night market a treat for all

A brand new night market in Westdene will be held for the first time on Friday, 24 February.

A brand new night market in Westdene will be held for the first time on Friday, 24 February.

The Westdene Neigbourhood Association initiated this to raise funds for the upkeep of this neighbourhood and business area.

Westdene is one of the older neighbourhoods in Bloemfontein, with beautiful older buildings and large established trees in the streets.

Marina van der Walt, general manager of the Westdene Neighbourhood Association, says the idea is to raise funds to upgrade roads, parks and open areas in the neighbourhgood.

“We want to not only ensure that Westdene’s heritage is looked after, but also that its residents and business owners feel safer in a cleaner, healthier neighbourhood and environment.”

The venue for the market is the large office park situated between Reid and Pres. Steyn Street. The entrance will be between SA Home Loans and Talk2Me Cellular. Visitors can look forward to live entertainment by musicians Belinda and Amy.

There will be no entrance fee.

The market will start at 16:00 and finish at 22:00.

There will be seating and a lively atmosphere, with food and drinks. Local restaurants like Bella Casa and Food Co. will offer a variety to choose from.

The Famous Brew and Still will have all its favourite craft liquor offerings on tap.

There will be halloumi from Mooivlakte Halloumi, curries from Curry Corner, a braai stall managed by Van Vuuren Wors and much more.

Contact the organiser of the market, Marie-Louise Smith, on 083-287-8845.
