February holds the promise of an epic celestial showcase in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mark two dates on you calender: Saturday, 10 February, when you will be able to see a new moon; and 24 February, also a fantastic full moon.

Some of the planets that will be visible this month are: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

Two meteor showers are also expected to light up the night sky.

On Saturday the presentation shown at the Naval Hill Planetarium will be The Sun: Our Living Star. This starts at 19:00.
