Two models from Bloemfontein are heading for the bright lights of the fashion world after securing positions at agencies in Cape Town.

Xanthé de Sa (19), who just finished writing her matric exam at the Hoër Meisieskool Oranje, and Iliana Stevens (18), a matric learner at the St Michael’s School for Girls, are on their way to realise their dreams.

They are both models at the Arthur Browne Model Coaching.

Along with Arthur and other models from the agency, they travelled to Cape Town earlier this year.

Xanté was not sure what she wanted to do and was planning on taking a gap year after her matric year.

“Getting a contract at Boss Models SA was much more than I hoped for,” she said.

“Modelling is a great passion of mine. It brings out my creative side.

“What I learned from being a model is that it is not necessary to be perfect.

“It is being unique and the best version of yourself that counts.”

She will be working as a high-fasion model for the agency and hopes to travel abroad soon.

Iliana began modelling in 2020 after she suffered from anorexia.

“Modelling was part of my recovery process and it helped me a lot in building confidence and believing in myself.”

She applied to do a course in communication design and contemporary arts at the Cape Town Creative Acadamy when she got a call from the Contact Model Agency, where she will be working next year.

Both young models are very excited about their upcoming adventure.

Arthur said modelling is a safe space where each model can attain their own goals.

He shared that he is extremely proud of these two models and says it shows that for those who want to pursue modelling as a career, there are real opportunities.
