Bloemfontein Life Saver Len-Douglas Mc Kay won a bronze medal in the 200 m Super Lifesaver event at the Orange Cup on 7 and 8 December in Rotterdam, Netherlands.


Bloemfontein Life Saver Len-Douglas Mc Kay won a bronze medal in the 200 m Super Lifesaver event at the Orange Cup on 7 and 8 December in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The event was held at the Zwemcentrum in Rotterdam, where 17 countries took part.

Mc Kay was part of the South African national open team. This team, along with the junior national team, were exceptional. The latter set a new record in the 4 x 50 m Lifesaver Relay. Mc Kay, the only South African to win a medal, came fifth in line throw, fifth in the 4 x 50 m medley relay, and seventh in the mixed 4 x 500 m pool lifesaver and 4 x 50 m pool lifesaver events.

Mc Kay was the overall top senior achiever, top stillwater competitor, and top surf competitor.
