The Free State hub of the Growthpoint South African National Regional Squash Tournament was held in Bloemfontein from 7 to 9 June.
Amy Greyvenstein, a student of the University of the Free State (UFS), was invited to the national finals in Cape Town to be held at the V&A Waterfront from 9 to 11 August.
This was after she beat Mariska McDonald in a thrilling match in Bloemfontein with the scores 11/4, 4/11, 12/10 and 11/8.
Another ex-Bloemfonteiner, Ruan Oilvier, who now plays and coaches squash in Pretoria, was also invited to the finals. Ruan beat Tremayne McDonald in the men’s final by 11/6, 11/6 and 11/1.
The tournament was held on a Swiss Pairing system.
