A teenager finds himself in critical condition in the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein after he miraculously survived a fall from the rooftop of the Loch Logan Waterfront Mall.
The 17-year-old is undergoing treatment after having sustained severe injuries. The boy, identified as a Gr. 11 learner of Grey College, is believed to have jumped from the rooftop of the shopping centre on Sunday afternoon, 19 May.
He reportedly sustained severe injuries to both his legs, his pelvis and neck.
The boy fell from the rooftop of the shopping centre, on the side of the premises closest to First Avenue.
It is still unclear how he found his way through to access the rooftop of the shopping centre.
Col. Thabo Covane, spokesperson for the police in the Mangaung Metro Municipality, confirmed that members of the Parkweg Police Station were called to attend to the scene of the incident, which reportedly happened at about 14:56 on Sunday.
“The paramedics rushed the 17-year-old to one of the local hospitals,” stated Covane.
