Children who want to become members of the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir (BCC) can make an appointment to audition on 29 July.

Winter auditions will be conducted for learners from nine to 15 years old.

The choir was established 36 years ago and has become well-known, with national and international performances stacking up.

Last year the choir toured to Europe, and another tour is planned for 2025.

In March the choir performed at the first National Conductors Convention in Cape Town – the only children’s choir in the country to be invited to perform at this prestigious event.

The BCC also had a memorable tour to Kimberley in May, where they performed with the Kimberley Children’s Choir and other local music groups.

Werner Stander, director of music, says the choir is looking forward to the rest of the year with more planned local performances, church performances, their yearly concert, and an highlight to conclude the year – a performance with the Drakensberg Boys Choir in December.

The BCC also announced that Elzanne Kruger is the newly appointed choir manager.

Kruger is a seasoned language practice expert with a passion for multiple performance disciplines.

Since the early 1990s she has been part of numerous stage productions as a singer, choreographer, and producer.

She also served on the student representative council of the Central University of Technology. Her portfolio was religion and culture.

Her passion for music and choral music started at a young age, and she also completed matric with music as a subject and Unisa grade 8 music exams.

Kruger was part of the cantando@bloem choir as a singer and management committee member for ten years and also performed solos in South Africa and Europe.

She combines her love for choir, communication, and relationships with a clear managerial drive and believes that systems give security to institutions.

Learners can contact Kruger to book an audition for 29 July on 082-323-5728 or send and email to bloemfonteinchildrenschoir @gmail.com.
