The Springbok Women will host the USA Eagles in a landmark two-Test series this July, marking the first time the sides have clashed on South African soil. The matches will form part of double headers when the Springboks take on England and Scotland in their Nations Championship campaign.

South Africa will welcome the eighth-ranked USA side to Ellis Park on Saturday, 4 July, and Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, 11 July, with the women’s fixtures opening the days’ action before the men’s Tests. The Springbok Women currently sit at an all-time high of 10th in the world rankings following their historic quarter-final appearance at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.

Springbok Women head coach Swys de Bruin welcomed the fixtures as crucial preparation for the next World Cup cycle. “Not only will we play two double headers with the Springboks, which is already massive for us, but it falls in line with our objective to play as many top ten teams as possible in the new World Cup cycle,” said De Bruin. “Our ambitions for the next Women’s Rugby World Cup in Australia are well documented by now, and these two Tests will be a brilliant start towards that goal.”

The USA Eagles Women General Manager of High Performance, Tamara Sheppard, expressed enthusiasm about touring South Africa. “Touring South Africa is a great opportunity for us to keep growing and developing against a Rugby World Cup quarter-final team,” said Sheppard. “We’re excited to embrace the challenge to play in front of some of the most passionate rugby fans in the world, and it will be an incredible experience for this developing Eagles group to test ourselves across the two test matches.”

The two nations last met in March 2024, when the USA secured a 38-17 victory at the Ealing Trailfinders Sports Grounds in London. The Springbok Women exited the 2025 World Cup after falling to New Zealand in the quarter-finals, whilst the USA departed following the pool stage.

SA Rugby has also confirmed two matches between the countries’ U20 sides on 18 and 25 July in the Cape Town region. The Junior USA Eagles will base themselves at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport throughout their tour.

This announcement follows confirmation that the Springbok Women will also face New Zealand’s Black Ferns on 4 September at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg as part of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.
