SA Rugby today revealed a newly designed playing kit for the Springboks, as well as a retro jersey honouring the heritage of the 1995 Rugby World Cup – 30 years to the day after they first won the Rugby World Cup.
South Africa now has it’s first dedicated Springbok rugby store.

The Springboks unveiled their new 2025 kit collection on Tuesday, exactly 30 years after Nelson Mandela presented the Webb Ellis Cup to the victorious 1995 Rugby World Cup team.

SA Rugby and Nike revealed both a modern playing jersey and a heritage replica celebrating the iconic 15-12 victory over New Zealand at Ellis Park three decades ago.

The new playing kit features a striking collar design inspired by the King Protea, with four stars inside representing the team’s four World Cup victories. The design maintains the traditional green and gold colors while incorporating cutting-edge fabric technology for enhanced performance.

The Springboks’ new HOME jersey was unveiled today, 30 years after they won their first Rugby World Cup.

“Nike has done a superb job to produce a kit range that both honors the traditions of the Springboks while giving it a modern design edge,” said SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer.

The heritage jersey recreates the original 1995 design in traditional cotton, complete with the classic Springbok leaping over protea wreaths badge that became synonymous with South Africa’s historic World Cup triumph.

The collection includes home and away jerseys, plus training gear and supporter merchandise. Modern materials feature moisture-wicking properties and enhanced breathability to keep players cool during intense matches.

Both jerseys and the lifestyle collection will be available from Wednesday at Nike stores, major retailers, and online platforms, allowing fans to show their support especially on “Bok Fridays.”

The timing celebrates one of rugby’s most significant moments, when Mandela’s presentation of the trophy helped unite a nation during its democratic transition.

This is the rugby jersey that the Springboks will be wearing in their AWAY matches.
