High police visibility in the Postmasburg area has resulted in more arrests made during the festive season.
On Tuesday, 20 December, police members of the Visible Policing unit apprehended two suspects who were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, stolen property, crystal meth, and mandrax tablets. Police were on high alert following a house robbery that occurred in Postmasburg earlier that day.
Acting on information received, police members apprehended two men travelling on foot between Postmasburg and Lohatlha.
One of the suspects was carrying a bag containing a card swipe machine, crystal meth, and mandrax tablets. The suspects then led the police to their residence where a firearm was found.
Unable to produce a licence for the firearm, the suspects were then arrested and charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court soon, charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm, drugs, and stolen property. The investigation is still ongoing, with a strong possibility of linking the suspects to the house robberies.
