There was a huge applause when the Free State’s top matriculant in the 2022 matric exams attended the Eunice High School’s Boardmedal Assembly on Monday (23/10).
Emma Nel was named the overall best matriculant during the Free State Departement of Education’s Well Done Function on Friday (20/01).
Emma thanked everyone that helped her along the path to success during the assembly on Monday.
“I stuck a sticker of a church in my shoes to remind me to walk in faith, not fear,” she said. “I have to thank God, that carried me every step of the way. I knew I couldn’t walk this path alone.
Emma, that achieved eight distinctions, among others in Dance Studies (96%), compared her journey through high school with different kinds of dances. She also achieved destinctions for Afrikaans first additional language (97%), Accounting (96%), Physical Sciences (95%), Life Sciences (94%), Life Orientation (93%), Mathematics (93%) and English Home Languange (90%).
This dux learner for 2022, achieved an avarage of 94,25% in the matric finals.
Sixteen matrics received board medals and six of the Eunice learners was named under the top 50 learners in the province.
Yi-Shiuan Huang was included in the top 10 matriculants for accounting (98%) and mathematics (97%).
Aadilah Khan is among the top 10 in accounting (99%) in the Free State.
Eunice’s matrics gained a 100% pass rate for the 37th year consecutively and this year achieved a 97,4% bachelor’s pass rate.
Eunice is the second best school in mathematics in the Free State and will be one of 10 schools that receive R100 000 from the departement of education.
