Two men were arrested on Thursday, 8 June, after the Bloemfontein Police Flying Squad received information of someone trying to sell a fake Kruger Rand coin at the Towers Shopping Centre in Langenhovenpark.

The police received information at 11:40 of two suspicious men at the shopping centre.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a man in a motor vehicle with a GP registration. They questioned him and searched the vehicle and found five Kruger Rand coins of which one was easily identifiable as fake due to its apprearence.

According to capt. Loraine Earle, R700 000 in cash as well as forged ID documents were also confiscated.

The vehicle that was used during the alleged crime, was also seized by the police.

Two men aged 38 and 45 years were arrested for fraud, forgery and being in contravention of the Identification Act.
