Visual arts exhibition to open soon

A curriculum-based Visual Arts exhibition of the Oliewenhuis Art Museum’s Permanent Collection and complimented by artworks on loan form the William Humphreys Art Gallery in Kimberley will be opened on Thursday (30/06).


A curriculum-based Visual Arts exhibition of the Oliewenhuis Art Museum’s Permanent Collection and complimented by artworks on loan form the William Humphreys Art Gallery in Kimberley will be opened on Thursday (30/06).

Hilda Faber, visual arts educator at the St Michael School for Girls will open the exhibition at 19:00 at Oliewenhuis.

  • The exhibition is named Learning through Art: The museum as classroom. Another project aimed at young artists are the National Museum’s annual Free State Young Artist Competition.

Learners from different age groups from 5 tot 9 years, learners from 10 to 14 years and learners from 15 to 19 years are invited to enter work they completed in 2022.

This year the theme of the competition is “Only One Earth”.

Young artists are encouraged to show the judges how they live greener and in harmony with nature.

The competition will close on 5 August at 15:00. No late entries will be accepted. Get entry forms and enter art works at the National Museum in 36 Aliwal Street.
