Apart from Hende-Mari Strydom’s appointment as the World Fitness Federation’s (WFF) All Africa president, other local administrators were also appointed in various positions within the organisation.
Barry van der Westhuizen was appointed as the WFF All Africa scrutineer coordinator. He has been coordinating the scrutineer system for WFF Free State and the South African nationals since 2017. Van der Westhuizen has represented the Free State in various sporting disciplines including judo, springboard diving and underwater hockey.
Johan Botha was chosen as WFF Free State chairman. He has been working in the fitness and wellness industry for six years.
“I am very honoured and humbled by the opportunity given to me by Hende-Mari to act as the WFF chairman for the Free State region, and I am looking forward to doing my best to promote the sport of body building,” says Botha.
Anja Botha was appointed as the WFF Free State vice-chairperson. She has been involved with the WFF since 2017.
She is, according to Strydom, the backbone when it comes to making sure that the WFF Bloem Classic and WFF Free State and Northern Cape Provincials goes according to plan each year.
The first competition taking place this year will be the Bloem Classic body building show on 29 April, during Bloem Show.
The Bloem Classic is a qualifier for the Asian Pacific in Japan, which will be held in September.
