Big parts of Mangaung are struggling with water supply interruptions.

The Vaal Central Water Board sent out a notice that this is due to the city building water capacity in its reservoirs after periods of turbidity, debris and siltation in the rivers feeding the water system.

In a media release Qondile Khedama, spokesperson from the Mangaung Metro, asked residents for patience due to the ongoing trajectory which depends on natural instantaneous river flow.

“Once settled, the system will recover to sustain restoration processes.”

Khedama said certain areas are already receiving water.

It is projected that most areas will have normal water flow by the end of office hours tomorrow.

On top of that there is also maintenance being done to the pumps at the Maselspoort Water Treatment Plant. Maselspoort will be out of operation for 36 hours.

The areas that is affected by this include Bainsvlei, Heuwelsig, Dewetsdorp, Pentagon Park, Spitskop, Unique Homes, Phelindaba, Pellissier, Rocklands, Phase 5, 6 and 7, Wepener and Namibia Square.
