This was a commentator’s observation during the rescue tube event at the South African Lifesaving Championship held at Umhlanga Rocks on 24 and 25 March.
Members of the Bloemfontein Central Lifesaving Club excelled at this championship. In the pool Derrick Kotze of the Sentraal High School placed first in the U14 category, while Len-Douglas Mac Kay of the Jim Fouché High School dominated the U19 category.
Len-Douglas also excelled in the beach events, claiming six gold medals, a silver medal and four bronze medals.
