The Covid-19 pandemic and the strict lockdown regulations enforced dealt South Africa’s fragile economy a huge blow.
The pandemic also had a global economic impact.

It is the seventh year that the Wealth Conference will be presented, this timebut because of the unusual circumstances, it will be done in the form of a live online webinar.
On Thursday at 18:00, Venter will talk about South Africa’s political future and how Covid-19 has influenced it.
“We will have a look at the way forward, next year’s municipal elections and the new party that was formed this weekend.”
Rocco Carr of Glacier by Sanlam will have an informal discussion with Kevin Lings of Stanlib on developed markets and potential pitfalls.
Jenwil BlueStar’s investment specialists will focus on offshore investment optionsthat are available to investors.
Rothea van Biljon, managing director of Jenwil BlueStar, says their investment committee keeps doing research on the best investment opportunities.
On 10 September at 18:00, Carr will have an informal discussion with Bernard Wessels of Coronation Fund Managers on emerging markets.
Jenwil’s investment specialists will talk about the possibility of government digging into private and public pension funds.
Venter will again join the conversation to talk about South Africa’s economic issues after Covid-19.
“We will have a look at the new normal in the months to come. Many businesses have closed down their offices. Working from home will have a definite impact on the property market.”
Venter says though the coming months will be difficult, it is not impossible to get the economy on track.
