Make your weight loss and fitness efforts count by taking part in the Fitness for Sanity Weight Loss Challenge, which will raise funds for Grace in Action.
Esramé Pelser of Fitness for Sanity, from Bloemfontein, says she wanted to do something for this charity that offers support for elderly people, as well as families and children who are less fortunate.
The fitness challenge will begin on 29 May and run for about 12 weeks, until 18 August.
“Each participant will be able to download an app, and a customised training programme and meal plan will be provided to them. The programme will be loaded at the beginning of each week and each participant can choose how difficult each exercise should be and what exercises they want to do each day of the week,” Esramé explains.
There will be weekly check-ins to asses each participants’ progress, and for them to adjust their plan accordingly.
Esramé says the training programme can be adjusted according to each individual’s training needs – whether the goal entails running, body building or weight loss.
“There are videos on the app that demonstrates the different exercises. There are exercises for the gym, but also many that you can do at home.
“What is great about this challenge, is that one can be anywhere and still take part.”
Maureen Oosthuizen, who runs Grace in Action (Genade in Aksie), is very exited about this initiative.
“We receive no financial assistance from the government or any large institution. The services offered by Grace in Action are totally dependent on the public and businesses for contributions. We only receive donations on special occasion, and this kind of support is not a given. We urgently need to build our stock of supplies.”
Maureen says since the founding of Grace in Action at least 8 500 lives have been changed to a greater or lesser extent.
An entry fee of R350 is applicable to take part in the challenge, of which R100 will be donated to Grace in Action. Contact Esramé on 079-759-5074, or send an email to fitnessforsanity@gmail.com to enter.
